Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a police officer? The Chatham-Kent Police Service gives children aged 12 & 13 the opportunity to find out!
Cop Camp will motivate young people to be outstanding citizens through law enforcement education. Targeting students before high school, this program is a police academy for young people. Our children are the community leaders of tomorrow. We wish to instill an appreciation and respect for law enforcement and their role in society.
Participants in Cop Camp get an up-close look at life as a police officer. Events include:
· Swearing-in as a honourary constable
· Tour of CKPS Headquarters
· Meet the Chief of Police
· Critical Incident Response Team presentation
· Canine presentation
· Traffic Services and safety presentation
· Crime scene management
· Community Patrol presentation
· Graduation ceremony and barbeque
Applicants Must:
· Be 12 or 13 years of age by August 15, 2011
· Must reside in Chatham-Kent
· Must have an interest in policing
Things You Need to Know:
· There is no cost! (children are required to bring lunch)
· Transportation to and from the camp is the responsibility of the parent/guardian
· The Chatham-Kent Police Service reserves the right to select candidates
