Man Arrested for Fraud
On January 8, 2010 a man entered the Real Canadian Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham and purchased a 42” flat screen television in the amount of $800. He paid cash for the item and left the store with his purchase. The following day, he re-attended the store to return the television. He informed the cashier that he had not opened the box and was returning the television because his wife did not like the brand name. The cashier refunded his money and the man left the store. A few days later, a staff member in the electronics department opened the box to check the contents and found that the original 42” television had been replaced with an older 37” television that was not functioning.
