The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 123 calls for service in the last 24 hours.
Seven people were arrested.  Five people were held in custody during that period.
 
Man and Woman Arrested on Warrants                                                                            
As previously reported, on March 4, 2010 members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Intelligence Unit conducted a search warrant at a residence on Timmins Crescent in Chatham. Officers seized a quantity of methamphetamine and three people were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
 
At the time of the news release, police did not disclose that that two other people were wanted in connection with the warrant (publication of this fact may have thwarted attempts to locate them).
 
Shortly before 1:00 a.m. this morning, police located both outstanding people in a residence on Wellington Street. A 37-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. The man was found hiding under a bed. When officers arrested him, they found him in possession of a pellet gun that looks like a real hand gun. A 37-year-old Chatham man has been charged with four counts of breaching his recognizance and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
 
Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault                                                                              
As previously reported, on March 4, 2010 at about 2:00 a.m., two men were involved in a fight outside the Golden Tap bar on Grand Avenue East in Chatham. During that altercation one man was knocked unconscious and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with a head injury. The man suffered fractures to his skull and bleeding around his brain. He has since been released from hospital, but suffers regular headaches.
 
Yesterday, police arrested a man in connection with this incident. A 24-year-old Chatham man has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
 
Man Arrested for Impaired Driving                                                                                               
Shortly before 11:00 p.m. last night, police received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver. An officer located the vehicle on Grand Avenue East as it pulled into the Kent Motel. During conversation, the driver exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested. He was transported to police headquarters to provide breath samples where it was determined that his blood alcohol concentration was more than two times the legal limit.
 
Albert Jerry ARCHIBALD (46) of Grand Avenue East in Chatham has been charged with impaired driving, having more than the legal limit of alcohol, and driving while suspended. He was later released from custody with a future court date.
