ON-SCENE CRISIS RESPONSE, IMMEDIATE PHONE CONTACT & FOLLOW UP:

Trained crisis responders are available to provide assistance to victims 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.   Our services can be requested by police, emergency service personnel, community partners and individuals seeking assistance.

 

WHAT SERVICES CAN WE PROVIDE?

CRISIS INTERVENTION, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, INFORMATION, PRACTICAL ASSISTANCE & REFERRALS:

Victims are provided a safe & secure environment to be able to discuss their feelings and reactions to traumatic events.  Information is provided regarding crime prevention strategies, safety planning options, the police investigation and the judicial process, as well as compensation options.   Practical assistance is provided to ensure access to transportation, accompaniment, food, clothing or other immediate needs are met.   Referrals are provided to relevant community agencies for long term assistance.

 

PUBLIC EDUCATION: 

Presentations available include in-service trainings about our organization, the effects of crime and specific types of trauma including but not limited to: domestic violence, elder abuse, break & enter, workplace violence, sexual assault, adult and child grief & bereavement.

 

ADVOCACY

Work in cooperation with other agencies and victims of crime to ensure access to services are established.

 

VICTIM QUICK RESPONSE PROGRAM: 

Assist victims of violent crime who qualify to apply for emergency funds to increase the immediate safety and provide assistance lessoning the impact of the violent crime.

If victim qualifies and is approved, financial assistance will be provided for:

- short term immediate counselling

- funding for funeral expenses for victims of homicide

- funding for emergency expenses for crime scene clean up, emergency home repairs (including lock changes, door repair,       phone line repairs, etc.), transportation costs, emergency child care/dependent care for special needs or elderly, emergency accommodation and meals.
