Critical Incident Response Team

The Critical Incident Response Team (C.I.R.T.)
is a highly trained unit that deals with situations that involve a high
probability of armed resistance. The unit is comprised of a supervisor and 13 constables
who are assigned to uniform patrol duties.
C.I.R.T. members are on patrol within the
municipality at all times for immediate deployment. The officers are
trained in police tactical operations and respond to a variety of
different situations such as armed/barricaded or violent person
complaints. They are a first response ground search and rescue team for
missing persons. The C.I.R.T. members also assist in the execution of
high-risk search warrants and security details. The team has specialized
training in less lethal methods of resolution and the safety and
protection of the public is paramount. The team trains regularly to
maintain a high level of expertise in the various critical situations
they encounter.
