The Intelligence Section serves as a central information gathering location; the data collected is analyzed, plans of investigation are undertaken and information is shared with members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service as well as other Services and Agencies.

The Intelligence Section encompasses four units: Intelligence, Drug Enforcement, Street Crimes and Crime Analysis. The officers are supervised by the Sergeant of the Intelligence Unit. Both Provincial and National Priorities as set down by Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario and Criminal Intelligence Service of Canada are addressed and investigated as required, with information being disseminated to respective agencies are required.

Information collected through the Intelligence Unit involves monitoring and disseminating information concerning organized criminal activity, biker enforcement, drug activity and human smuggling. Investigations and surveillance are conducted to determine criminal movement, identify links between persons and criminal activity, sources of income, and background information.

The Street Crime officers operate under the umbrella of the Intelligence Unit and work closely with front line officers. They assist in the investigations of break & enters, robberies, stolen goods and other criminal activity. Officers gather intelligence information on those involved in street level crimes, conduct interviews, and follow up on tips and leads. They also provide assistance when required to the Drug and Intelligence Officers, as all officers in the section work very closely together.
