Traffic Unit

The Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Unit is responsible for
traffic enforcement and safety throughout the Municipality of
Chatham-Kent. They are part of the Patrol Support
Section within the Police Service. They conduct
targeted speed enforcement, commercial motor vehicle safety inspections,
and escorts. They also work co-operatively with other agencies for
special traffic projects. The officers receive extensive training in
accident reconstruction and respond to all motor vehicle crashes
involving serious or fatal injuries to persons. The officers investigate
these crashes and determine the and cause of the collision. The
knowledge and expertise they possess often qualifies them as an expert
in court. The members also conduct traffic training of new
police officers and radar training for the entire Patrol Branch of the Police
Service.
