Unit
The Chatham-Kent Police Service Training and Career Development Unit
is a Unit within the Professional Standards Branch. The Unit was
officially developed in January 2000 and currently consists of one
Sergeant and five part-time Constables, all of whom are qualified Use of Force
Instructors. The Training Unit ensures that all Chatham-Kent Police
Personnel receive the necessary and mandated training required to meet
legislated requirements under the Police Service Act and Adequacy
Standards. Some of this Training includes, Firearms re-qualification,
Defensive Tactics re-qualification/refresher training, Police Vehicle
Operations, Suspect Apprehension Pursuit training, Advanced Patrol
Training, General Investigation Training, Coach Officer training,
Domestic Violence Investigation training, Heavy Weapons/Shotgun training
and Physical Fitness training. The Training and Career Development Unit,
as its name would imply, is a learning unit, which promotes and
facilitates the life long learning philosophy of our Police Services. The Unit accomplishes
this mission through the continuous professional and personal development of
all employees.
